This is explained in a recent message and has been explained in various ways several times since we started using the Mac. If you are having the *problem* I think you are having, it boils down to the fact that the cursor is actually between characters. if you move right and hear a character and then move left, you will hear that same character so if you want to delete a character, move right till you hear it and hit delete, if you want to insert beginning before a character, move left till you hear the character and insert. This is not a bug, this is not a problem and infact is more precise than what we get in windows which has always confused me.
