well, let's see...

Give away auto response, or at least a template that they send off to
lots of people.

> We sincerely apologize if we weren't able to respond to your e-mail

makes sense. This is a typical policy...

Trying to lay on the 'we care about our customers' crud.

> Our Product team is aware of this and we are currently working on a fix

In other words,

"Yah, we know about the problem. We created it to spite OOo users. No
exact date will be available for a fix, as we kind of like the results
it brings. After all why would we want to do anything different than
our MSN friends. After all they intentionally screw up all the HTML
sent to Opera, so why can't we block non MS Office users and blame it
on viruses, even if, we know dang well, MS Office formats are really
one of the biggest carriers of viruses, without any known viruses for
OOo. Too bad. Let's lay on some more customer care crud"

At least that's my basic interpretation

> Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Please remain confident
> that Hotmail is in control of the situation and is committed to serve
> you better.

Yah they control the attachments and laugh at users who believe they
are on the side of people who use any product that competes with a MS
product.

> Sincerely,
