of course replacing, i chose the wrong word :)

the problem is, if this is an oo.org macro, the document must be imported in oo.org and then saved - and if it is saved as .doc it probably will be different than the orginal one that was saved in word (actually even resaving the document with different word version sometimes removes the problematic part)

or are we talking about msword macro ?

as the problem usually is with word documents, how could oo.org macro remove text without changing anything else ?

Not *removing* but *replacing*, perhaps with keeping the number of characters in every text portion.

As an example, if your text is

"This is a very secret text!"

the macro could replace it by

"xxxx xx x xxxx xxxxxx xxxx!"

but all formatting attributes would stay untouched.

Of course this will change the layout a little bit (except when you are
using a fixed width font of course), but hopefully most of the bugs will
not go away.

Best regards,
Mathias
