Hi,

I understand how to make in OOWriter mail merge letter (aka form letter in
OOoese; all this is about OOo 1.1.4 -- I am currently waiting when OOo 2.0
will be available for Debian/testing, so bear with this old version) using
datafields from OOCalc. However, I haven't found a way how to attach data
from a spreadsheet (imported from Excel) to the already existing mail merge
letter (imported from Word) -- in other way how to do mail-merge on the
pair of mail merge letter/spreadsheet originally from M$-Office?

When I peeked into XML of the .sxw file, I found that all
text-database-display elements have parameters text:database-name and
text:table-name empty. Like this:

<text:database-display text:database-name="" text:table-name="" \
        text:table-type="table" \
        text:column-name="CO"><CO></text:database-display>

Of course, I could fill these fields manually and repackage .sxw file, but
isn't there some more "polite" way how to do it (I am afraid, that if I
would this hack to my M$-Office-only colleagues, fame of OOo wouldn't
improve :-)).

Thanks a lot for any help,

Matěj

If in desperation, read the documentation!
