And if you don't want to buy Excel try:
"Menu -> File -> Open" and select "Text CSV(*.csv,*.txt)" from the "File
Type" drop down list box.
This will give you options very similar to those offered in Excel.

Before commanding that something is "completely unacceptable behaviour"
you might like to read the wealth of documentation available from:
http://documentation.openoffice.org/ or search the OOo Knowledge Base
at: http://mindmeld.cybersite.com.au/
Comments such as this will not encourage the many willing volunteers on
this list to come forward and help you. Remember that OOo is not a MSO
clone and some things work a little differently to what you may be
accustomed to or may like them to be.

BTW: I think it is completely unacceptable that the OOo developers and
support volunteers should give us a great office suite for free.
Appalling, disgusting, shouldn't be allowed ;)
