I think what needs brought to these few politicians attention is the fact that MS was a member of OASIS and then when everyone decided to go to the file format that OASIS adopted and passed, they backed away from it and went their own way.

It needs pointed out to them that ODF is not shutting MS out of the picture, it is MS themselves that decided not to support an industry standard file format. All that has to be done for MS to still have software in Mass is for them to support ODF in the next release of MSO. If there are several companies that can support ODF then it should not be too hard for MS to do so. I just read that Wordperfect was going to support ODF probably in their next release the first part of 2006, so that will be one more, and one of the biggest. So someone needs to go to the meeting with a list of programs that do now or have said they will support ODF in their next release to show them that it is MS that is not playing nicely with everyone else.
