I'm running Linux, so I can't really compare, but... if, when I upgrade
my o/s, I can get Abiword running, I may skip OO.dog most of the time.
900MHz, 192M RAM, RH 9 (upgraded), and it takes around 30 sec. or more
*just* to get where I can click "file", and *then* that takes several
seconds to respond. And, of course, I can't do anything while the damn
thing's coming up, because it's eating *everything*, and most of the
time, if I have streaming audio running, the music stops. It's *almost*
as bad closing it, too.
I run OOo-2.0 om linux as well -- on an old Thinkpad-240 (400mHz Celron,
192MB RAM) and yes, it is slow to start but once it is running it works
fine, thank you. Abiword is somewhat faster, but I still prefer OOo.
Is 2.0 *any* faster than 1.3? Certainly, 1.3 was faster than 1.0 -
*that* took, literally, a timed *minute* to just come up to the blank
screen before I could hit the file menu.

Criticising the President is wrong?
Abraham Lincoln, as a congressman, voted to censure President Polk in
the midst of the Mexican-American war. Lincoln challenged Polk's
justification for the war, calling it a deception against the American
people.
