I am not sure, that I understand -- was your question whether it is possible
to compare two version of documents (for example, before and after somebody
made revisions to them)? If it is so, then what you need to do is open NEW
file in Writer (actually, Calc can do it too -- one of the things
OpenOffice can do and its M$ Office equivalent cannot) and then use Edit /
Compare Document and select the original version of the document.

If on the other hand, you want to know what are differences between 1.* and
2.0 versions of OpenOffice, go and take a look at these pages:
