Although different, this may achieve what you want: Enter your data in the first cell. Highlight the cells in the column you want to fill. Do Edit|Fill|Down. There are similar options for filling to the right, etc. Or, you can enter a value into a cell, then click and drag the bottom right handle of the cell to fill the column or row you drag.
