and i agree that tool like this should not be incorporated in office software package, though importing it's output might be a better idea ;)
Rich,

Thanks for that link, there is a lot more information that I'm looking for than just network connectivity. I'm looking for tools that can inventory my environment to include SANs (Storage Area Network).
This falls in line with SRM and asset management.

The thing is Storage Vendors has this in many of their apps like EMC has ECC, HDS has HiCommand, Veritas has Command Central and others. But those are complex configuration and cost a lot of money to obtain. So I'm looking for a cheaper way and that is why I was wonder if anyone in the openoffice
group was doing anything remotely close to visio.

Dia folks won't touch visio porting or the stencils that are there now. I guess they are afraid of legal rights to doing so. But I've come across a Mac application called Net something can't remember and don't
have the app infront of me. It's not bad.

Symantec release something called Discovery which seems to only cover servers inventory and only works
on a windows box.

Again I appreciate the list repsonse and hope that in the future, that someone works on that idea. It seem obvious
of the need being there. Just someone picking up the bag and start coding..

Phillip
