I've been following this (and other similar threads) with dismay,
because I, too, hate MickeySoft with a passion.  I've criticized
Redmond's arrogance at more conferences than I can count -- often from behind 
the podium as a
speaker.

But I can't lose the time and/or features that OO presently requires.
I just spent an hour repairing footers that either I or OO destroyed
(I think I know which), and I have document template problems I can't
solve in OO. I have to move on.

I have no sympathy for those on this list who are ranting at the OO
developers; they're doing the work for this project, not us.  I will
continue to monitor each major release and test it in my spare time.
I WANT this to succeed -- but putting food on the table has to come
first.
