Gentlemen/Ladies: In years past, I've been able to define keyboard key-combinations in WordPerfect to obtain special characters. Those special characters were the Hawaiian native language letters with a solid line above both upper-case & lower-case vowels. I've never found that ability in Word. Now, with my desire to use OOo for my office suite of choice, I'd very much like to regain that ability.
I can't remember the specifics, but seem to recall using <Shift><Alt><A> to produce an upper-case "A" with the horizontal line above the character. This key combination was assigned a numerical keypad number combination as defined in the WordPerfect documentation. For lower-case vowels, I substituted the <Ctrl> key for the <Shift> key in the above sample. I realize this won't be a high priority, but just the same, I would like to take this opportunity to place a request for this character creation ability. Thank you for allowing me to submit this request. I really enjoy using OOo & am doing it 100% of the time, now that I can produce documents readable by those folks I haven't yet succeeded in getting to make the changeover... I'll keep workin' on 'em, though. :-) Respectfully, Dave
