Hello everyone.

I couldn't find anything on these with a search of the openoffice.org domain. So, hopefully, no-one will have already posted on this... Also, I hope this is the right place to post this sort of thing? Apologies if not.

The UK parliament has set up an e-petition site. It is currently in beta testing phase. On it are two e-petitions which I think might interest this discussion group and members might want to "sign" said petitions - check your eligibility to do so first though please! The links are below:

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/ODFinNA/ (Petition to: Adopt Open Document Format in National Archives)

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/opendoc/ (Petition to: Mandate the use of open formats (ODF, PDF) for all electronically stored/transmitted government data)

Both petitions say it all really and I would urge you to "sign" them. You will be bringing pressure to bear on the UK Government to recognise that ODF is an ISO mandated open document format (ISO 26300) that should be adopted by public and private bodies to ensure past, present and future data/document portability and accessibility.

Regards,

Dave Gair
