Dear Open Office folks; I just blogged some free javascript that shows how to do transliteration.
Imagine this : you are in Russia and you want to use Open Office to type a document in English. How are you going to type that on a Russian keyboard? Imagine this : you are in the United States and you want to use Open Office to create a invitation in French to a fête (party). How are you going to type that? What is transliteration? For instance, you type e/ and you computer turns it instantly into the French character é . Or you type De and it turns into the Russian character Д. It also works the other way around (Russian to English, for instance). I think you can imagine how this would improve the usefulness of Open Office to people worldwide. People would never need to install another keyboard driver again - even if a document was using 10 languages. If you would like to see the free javascript demo, it is on my Languages and Technology blog at : http://emsjuwel.com/kitqc2blog/?p=61 Transliteration would really improve the productivity of people who work in more than one language. It would be a great 'competitive edge' over commercial products! Every business, government, school and language student could use it. all the best Andrew Shaw Namke World Productivity http://emsjuwel.com
