After selecting the cell to be formatted, right click on it. That should get 
you the "Format Cells" menu. Then select the "Numbers" tab, and then "Time". 
That will give you all the default formats for time data.

If you really want to get rid of the colon, then you will need to customise the 
format you select in the "Format code" box at the bottom of the menu. Be aware 
that you will still need to use the colon when entering the Time, even though 
the custom formatting will block it from being visible.
