When the document was written, there was an attempt made to make docker daemon OVS aware. There was no interest for that exact work piece of work from Docker. Instead, Docker is currently working on Network plugins here: https://github.com/docker/libnetwork. Once that work matures, there will be a "native" integration in the sense that you can have your OVS interface inside a container before the application starts.
