Hi all.

I was just talking to my boss about his football boosters' fundraising
auction and that caused a few ideas in my head that I'd like for the
record:

- The way the boosters' auction works is they sell tickets ($12) and
then once at the event, items are auctioned off that are donated from
businesses in the area. For example, Mid's donated a case of spaghetti
sauce. An analogous situation would be if Goodyear donated a set of four
tires, Chipotle donated gift certificates, etc. In exchange, they get
event sponsorship and their name on a banner. On top of that, we could
make use of things we already have laying around - for example, donated
computers could be restored to working condition and given a fresh copy
of Fedora, then auctioned with a monitor, keyboard and mouse.

- A tangential idea would be starting a company eBay store. We had
talked some months back about having a storefront per se but that would
be impractical at this time for space reasons. We could take those
aforementioned old computers and other spare assets and auction them off
for cash.

The live auction could be part of an event (the site cleanup, or the
open house for example) or it could be its own thing. I just wanted to
get a conversation going about it.

Trever also mentioned we do need to start having more active projects we
could highlight. If we do a project that we could make through an easily
repeatable process, those items could perhaps be sold for some cash as
well.
