Hi Ron,

Thank you so much for meeting with me in the applicator lab today. I am so glad
that Sherwin-Williams is using the Objet30 Pro from Stratasys along with
SolidWorks to improve the design of our rollers.

These tools enable us to innovate and prototype quickly and decide what works
and what does not.

I promised to let everyone you recommended know about our event, so here goes:

OUR EVENT TOMORROW

Tomorrow night 3/20, at 8PM at SYN/HAK (21 W North St, Akron, Ohio) fellow
member Doug Costlow is going to be speaking on 3D Printing, and showing the
community what is involved in the process of additive manufacturing.

He will be bringing his 3D Printer (which he bought from MakerGear: an Ohio
based 3D Printer maker) for all to witness this incredible instrument first
hand.

This is a very important topic for our local economy as it has immense
potential to create new jobs and businesses.

To this end, I wanted to communicate it to you personally in the hope that you
can share the knowledge of the talk with anyone you think would be interested.

Attendees are encouraged to RSVP on meetup here:

Full description:

Doug Costlow (Bridgestone) will be doing a presentation which will include a
brief history, explanation of the process, types of materials and printers
available, costs, applications, 3d modeling options, and an explanation of the
work flow of running a printer.

He will also have his printer to do a demo and some parts for display. There
will be plenty of time for questions and mingling too.

Rick Pollack (MakerGear) and a Representative from Filaco (producer/distributor
of filaments) plan to attend. They will introduce and explain their respective
companies and plan to stay and talk with attendees as well.

If you are new to 3D printing, wikipedia defines it thus:

3D printing is a process of making a three-dimensional solid object of
virtually any shape from a digital model using an additive process, where
successive layers of material are laid down in different shapes.

My apologies to Mike for not connecting sooner.

ABOUT OUR NON-PROFIT

A hackerspace (also referred to as a hacklab, makerspace, or hackspace) is a
community-operated physical space where people with common interests, often in
computers, technology, science, or art can meet and collaborate.

We are an infrastructure provider for people who want to make things.

We opened our new location for the public in January. During that event, I
collected some pictures (which includes pictures of Doug presenting his 3D
Printer to Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic):

We plan on having a fundraiser for our non-profit soon, in the hope to buy an
on-premise 3D Printer that our community in Akron can use to realize their own
designs.

Couldn't help but share our journey thus far with your group. We hope to keep
improving opportunities Akron for similar activities in the future, and would
really appreciate any and every help from people who believe in our mission.

YOU'RE INVITED!

I, personally, extend an invite to you (and your colleagues who I carbon copied
in the interest of time) as well to come down and learn more about our 2000
square foot facility in the old Abtec building.

Learn more about us on our website synhak.org and about earlier events held at
SYN/HAK at my blog here: gsvolt.wordpress.com

Once again, thank you so much for any help you can provide to share knowledge
of our talk on 3D Printing tomorrow, and in general promote SYN/HAK in Akron,
and Maker's Alliance in Cleveland.

Regards,
