I must correct myself: it's not so bad at all: gmenu2x quits its most
memory hungry process when launching apps, so it temporarily frees these
6 MB of memory.  Quite a good compromise, IMO.

Another part to optimize: top showed a line "/bin/sh /usr/bin/gmenu2x".
I think we don't need the /bin/sh part.  Maybe by using "exec
/usr/bin/gmenu2x" in inittab, we're going to get rid of the unused shell
process?
