BTW emacs also nowadays supuports spreadsheets via 'ses-mode'.  There is
an example file located in:

 /usr/share/emacs/23.2/etc/ses-example.ses

New spreadsheets are created by opening a file ending on '.ses'.  For
formulas you can use any lisp functions provided by emacs, such as:

(+ A1 A2 A3)
(apply '+ (ses-range B4 B7))

Some documentation is available by pressing Ctrl+h f ses-mode <Ret> or
Ctrl-h m from within spreadsheet files.
