Huh ? You can treat this rather lean firmware pretty much like a black box if you don't want to touch the AVR. You're also free to use a different microcontroller to communicate with the transceiver. For better or worse, AVR is quite popular in the DIY world, so using one of these chips should enable more people to make experiments with the atusb firmware, should they be inclined to do so.
