Hi all,
we're calling on all Free Software developers who have requested (or are
planning to request) interoperability under the Digital Markets Act
(DMA) from companies like Apple, Google or Microsoft to make their
voices heard!
The DMA, Article 6(7), now legally obliges these “gatekeepers” to
provide free, effective, and documented access to their hardware and
software features. We’ve already helped shape stronger procedures
through our efforts during the EC’s regulatory process and secured
improvements to Apple’s interoperability request based procedure. But
this is not enough: Apple is litigating - again - these last measures.
That is why now monitoring compliance is paramount, and we aim to
collect the experience of Free Software developers depending on Apple,
Google and other gatekeepers for accessing features controlled by these
companies [1].
To do this, we have been working on the DMA Interoperability Survey
[https://fsfe.org/activities/deviceneutrality/interop-survey].
The insights of the developers answering the survey will help us
identify common obstacles for Free Software and patterns of
non-compliance, report issues to the European Commission, and advocate
for enforcement that supports Free Software and small developers in the
implementation of the DMA.
*This is a request for members of this list involved in software
development / or with contacts with developers*: please share this
within your personal and professional networks. The more inputs the
survey will receive, the better.

Thanks a lot already!
Best regards,
Dario
