Let me ask a follow-up - I may try coordinating some effort to get
this to work in MinGW. What would be the steps you recommend to get
this to work?

From what I understand, MinGW implements socklen_t but the WinSock
library needs to be linked in. Has anyone patched the necessary files
to make this happen?
