Hello,

even I haven?t suggested I want say some words to SUNWgnu-mc:
Midnight Commander is a clone of Norton Commander. The main features, which I
have used on my root server, are:
-File browsing
-comfortable editor which can be used without knowing vi commands)
-unpacking of compressed files
-access/copy/edit data to/from remote pc via ssh shell connection
-ftp client

Regarding rsync: Within opensolaris version typically version 2.6.9 is being
used. With version 3.0.0 (newest version is 3.0.6) a very useful feature called
iconv was introduced. To use the feature both server and client has to support
it.The iconv feature allows rsync to convert filenames from one character-set
to another during the transfer. This is needed when using rsync between
operating systems with different char sets e.g. Unix and Windows. Therefore it
would be great considering using a version with iconv support.

Best regards,

Oliver
