I'm assuming that all the data in the "mirror" box in this image <http://distributions.freedesktop.org/wiki/AppStream/Implementation> is going to be nicely wrapped into a package container file eventually so that cross-distro Linux packages can be hosted on websites and downloaded more easily, instead of downloading three files?

For right now I'm assuming you're more focused on getting the packaged data into a format that can be cross-distro for hosting on a server so it can be made available to all Linux users, but I was just wondering if anyone had considered the container file format that the universal data could reside in?

I think it'd be great to eventually make an AppStream container file, or you could call it either officially or unofficially a Linux package file.

.lnx? .linux? ;)

Thanks,
