i found why icons dont seem to display. other than hte .pic thing - missing system mime database! no mime info. e has no clue that a .desktop file is actually a desktop file (its actually sheer luck it has some hard-coded extension handling that happens to at least parse the file), so somewhere along the way it went "no idea what this is... i don't need to know to look for the icon in the icon search path" and it didn't.
to solve, add: shared-mime-info mime-support and bingo. :) works. :) not sure where you want to add it, but generally this tends to be a core system database - you may want it as a dependency of e. what's the call here? -- Carsten Haitzler (The Rasterman) <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
