So I just listened to the deployment roundtable and realized that
there is another example out there for a "push button" deployment
strategy. The PC-BSD project has developed a format to create
instalable files that install into isolated directories. It utilizes,
during the package build phase, the underlying packaging system to
build the pbi. There are a bunch of other cool details but it "could"
provide some  ways forward to tackle this. Some links to info below.
