A friendly reminder that wheel is implemented, useful and working as long as you are using distribute 0.6.28 or better. Qwcode's pip fork supports it. When you install a wheel you get .dist-info and can easily have no .egg-info in your virtualenv.
Would anyone care to lend a hand with the Sphinx API docs which I don't know how to set up? Code is at https://bitbucket.org/dholth/wheel . Most of what will be the API is in wheel/install.py Thanks! Daniel Holth
