I ond't consider that a good option, since I do want some testers to get
it from the published location.

Obviously, yes. That leaves the undesirable version online until such a
fix is available.

But before a fixed version is available, a quick “this version is not
for public consumption (now)” is what I looked for, and believed I had
found with the “hide this version” feature.
