Hi distutils-sig
Just wanted to let you know that I've proposed a core CPython PEP to
formally deprecate and remove the standard library distutils module.

The PEP has gone to python-dev formally because it only deals with the
standard library module. setuptools, pip, and recent package work
feature in the motivation, but are not bound to follow anything in this PEP.
