Pippin, that's not entirely correct. HDMI supports all sample rates fine
(in fact at least up to 192 kHz). If I use UPnP/DLNA on my Blu-Ray
player connected over HDMI, all sample rates (44.1, 48, 96) are passed
thru fine. So, the issue is stricted to iOS deciding itself it wants to
resample. No idea why it wants to do that on 44.1 kHz streams though as
most devices (receivers, TVs) that I am aware of can handle at least
both 44.1 and 48 kHz.
