My suggestion would be to help do some testing on the various branches that are sitting in SVN. I've been trying to do some work with the row level permissions, and was able to find a few corner-case bugs. Chris has been very helpful in getting them fixed quickly. There's still the schema evolution, multi-db, multi-auth and search-api branches. I think it'd be great to get all of those into the Django core/contrib, but without more testing of them, it'll never happen. Just my two cents.
