I had noticed that some spam was magickally disappearing. Regarding the script: - emails are still sent out to those listed on the CC (which is then confusing because the ticket doesn't appear to have changed) - the 'last modified' date isn't reverted when the spam is removed. E.g., ticket 1330 is 'last modified 6 hours ago, last comment in August. Providing a kill button for trusted users is one approach, but IMHO manually reverting spam is a stopgap measure at best. > Also, I've been mulling over the idea of requiring an account signup > in order to post tickets and comments. Would that be worth the pain? IMHO, yes. Firstly, it kills the spam problem (or at least makes it easier to remove any spam that gets through the registration net). Secondly, it improves the quality of the tickets, because every ticket can be traced back to a specific user. If we're going to start messing with the ticket system, a general review of ticket lifecycle procedures is probably worthwhile. The idea of a triage team was floated recently; I have a few other ideas that I would like to see implemented which would help me deal with tickets (mostly relating to default ticket ownership and restricting modification permissions). If there is interest in larger scale change, I'll knock out some discussion points.
