For a major feature like that, the answer to "when will it merge into
trunk" is actually a set of further questions :)

Have people used it and found it to be stable?
Does it implement everything the other DB backends do?
Does it have all the necessary documentation?
Does it have unit tests for all its functionality, and does it pass them?

I don't know much about the Oracle stuff because my attention's been
elsewhere, but those are the kinds of things which need answering
before anybody can say whether/when it'll go into trunk.
