Thanks for the confirmation that c3 < p2. Looking around here: http://packages.ubuntu.com/ it seems that both Ubuntu Edgy and Feisty have 1.2.1-p2 levels (they're called python-mysqldb 1.2.1-p2-4ubuntu2 and python-mysqldb 1.2.1-p2-4ubuntu3 respectively). My only twinge of concern is they don't have the "python2.4" qualifier like my current package, but I'd hope they did away with the need for 2 versions of the package depending on python level (or dropped support for the older python?) rather than dropping python 2.4 support. I can't imagine they'd have done that. My current inclination is to update to Edgy. I haven't in the past simply because Dapper doesn't automatically offer it (since Dapper has "long term support") and I've had no need to update.
