If it's the volume of copy-and-paste you'll have to go through that you're scared of, I recommend a capable editor and then use macros. That's what I did for Swedish mostly, but I forced myself to run the copy macro only once, not in bulk - so that I could catch names that do need translating. Oh and a last tip, if you're uncertain if some town's name is different in your language - go to Wikipedia for the English name, and then find any potential InterWiki links, has worked a charm for me for names I didn't even know existed.
