Comment:

 Hmm, sometimes it does work. But to reproduce, create a project with a
 'users' app, with a simple MyUser model, create the initial migration, and
 the second one as described above, and run:

 {{{
 rm db.sqlite3
 python manage.py migrate auth
 python manage.py migrate sessions
 python manage.py migrate admin
 python manage.py migrate users
 }}}
