Comment:
Yes, we are *very* late in the cycle; this is something that has fairly
major consequences to serialization, so it needs to be considered
carefully, and shouldn't be committed between RC and final.
I'm also not entirely convinced that this is a good idea, either -- it has
some fairly major consequences to existing serializations. I think it
needs more discussion before it gets committed.
