Hi. Yes I did set AUTHENTICATION_BACKENDS to django.contrib.auth.backends.ModelBackend in settings.py . Also doesnt Django by default set AUTHENTICATION_BACKENDS to the value even if I dont set it in the settings.py folder? Inspite of this , the solution hasnt worked :(.
