Step 1 is to work through the excellent tutorial ... https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.6/
Step 2 is to draw on paper what you want the website to look like and what the various buttons and links will do.
Step 3 is to look for something which has already been done which might suit your needs. You could look through Django packages for events, booking and blog apps.
