Two great resources:

        https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/1.6/intro/tutorial01/

        http://www.djangobook.com/en/2.0/index.html

Not sure I'd recommend djangobook.com... from their own site:

"This book was originally published by Apress in 2009 and covered Django version 1.0. Since then it has languished and, in places, is extremely out of date."

And if you go over their github page... the last updates were about a year ago. Doesn't really look like they're making any progress towards updating things.

One site that is reasonably current and very helpful, though:

http://www.tangowithdjango.com/

Written for django 1.5, so it could be a little fresher... but its still way more current/relevant than djangobook.com.

Just my point of view as another newbie looking at tutorials out there on the great world wild web ;)

YMMV,
