I think this is because the Django book still explains some concepts more clearly and easier to understand than the official tutorials.
For example, section "A Simple Form-Handling Example" and those following it at http://www.djangobook.com/en/2.0/chapter07.html were a invaluable help for me when I was starting with Django.
