Thanks for the report. Apologies for the behaviour of the spam filter; we've been having some difficulties with it lately. Its true - rel isn't used. But neither is the rest of the method. The _set method in question is a fossilized remnant of v0.91 (pre-magic removal). I've removed it in r3963.
