According to people that have commented, there's a small bug where this code works with more recent versions of Django (such as from svn), but not with 0.95. There is an explanation in the comments there that tell how to fix it.
FYI, that's not a bug -- rather, it's a new feature in the Django development version. Callable objects in URLconfs were added after 0.95 was released.
