Oh, make sure your upload form specifies the 'enctype' attribute so it
will actually send a file object, like:

<form enctype="multipart/form-data" action="{% url file_create
parent_id %}" method="post">
{{ form.as_p }}
<input type="submit" value="Submit" />
</form>
{% endblock %}
