+1 I think it would be well worthwhile. I just downloaded Satchmo to see how a Django app should be structured; not because I want a shopping site. Satchmo is a very sophisticated piece of Django/Python obviously comprising many man-years of work. If you open source your app it could serve the dual purpose of showing newbies (like me) a working app of only a year or so's sophistication (much easier to get one's head around) plus a project management tool.
