Sorry, I meant the executable. Was the version linked against 0.9.7 from a pkg 
that installed to /usr/bin, and your built version installed to /usr/local/bin. 
Or is that what you meant, I'm not familiar with rpath...

That's what the rpath options during the build of dkim milter are
supposed to fix.  It tells the dynamic library loader to look in those
paths that it specifies first, before it starts to look in the regular
paths specified in /etc/ld.so.conf and /etc/ld.so.conf.d/* if those
exist.  And it _does_ seem to me that it's working right since ldd shows
the correct libraries.
