I was going to point out that MSA on port 587 is an almost orthogonal issue — that mostly deals with local networks which block or hijack port 25 and thus prevent people from accessing their home SMTP servers. SMTP authentication is possible on port 25 too... although actually it looks like RFC2554 didn't define that until *later*, in March 1999. -- dwmw2
