A defect in the method used in this list (and Y!Groups, fwiw) is that
every message from the list comes through with the exact same email
address, <dmarc-discuss@dmarc.org>, in the From field.
This causes havoc in some email interfaces which have the option (or
default) of looking up the email address in the user's address book and
presenting the address-book name as the From. Likewise when creating a
message to the list some interfaces will autocomplete the To address
using an arbitrary address-book display name.
Some lists (Groups.io among them) use the put the sender's email address
into the user portion of the From address to keep each sender unique as
received. For example:
Display Name via dmarc-discuss <user=example....@dmarc.org>
Are there downsides to this formulation which would prevent it from
being the preferred (or recommended) rewrite workaround?
