For any interesting specification, there are many ways to improve it.  The question is whether the improvement is worth the effort.

So, when someone suggests a change, there should be an expectation of an accompanying explanation that makes the change compelling.

A particular trap is changes that are fashionable rather than important.  That is, they suit the tastes of the day, but they don't really fix a problem or makes things markedly better.
